LHDN Now Knows Your Shopee Income! E-commerce E-invoicing FAQ

Post title 'Got Shopee Income? LHDN Knows' on a green banner overlaying thumbnail of Bispoint E-invoice 2025 trainer

If you’re selling on Shopee, you might think you need to issue your own e-invoices—but good news: Shopee has already got you covered with self-billed e-invoices!

All you have to do is head to the “Report” section on Shopee to download your Statement, E-Invoice, and Tax Invoice. These reports are also automatically shared with LHDN, meaning your income data is already on their radar.

But here’s the catch: if you’re also serving walk-in customers or selling through other offline channels, then you’ll need to submit your own e-invoices and prepare consolidated e-invoices to separate your online and offline sales clearly.

Here’s the correct way to manage it:
Shopee Orders – Shopee auto-generates your self-billed e-invoices.
Walk-in Orders – You’re responsible for submitting the e-invoices and managing your consolidated sales records.

Read on for more FAQ on how to manage e-invoicing for onlines sales on Shopee and other e-commerce platforms.

Do Shopee Sellers Need to Issue E-Invoices?

1. Do I need to issue an e-invoice for sales made on Shopee?

No, you don’t. Shopee automatically generates a self-billed e-invoice for each sale made on the platform.

As a seller, simply go to the “Report” section in your Shopee seller account. There, you can download three types of documents:

  • Statement
  • E-Invoice
  • Tax Invoice

Shopee also submits the e-invoice to LHDN on your behalf. This means your Shopee income is already reported. When doing your own accounts, you should still record all your sales, but there’s no need to re-submit Shopee transactions to LHDN for validation.

2. I sell both on Shopee and to walk-in customers. How should I handle e-invoicing in this case?

If a walk-in customer requests an e-invoice, you must issue it yourself and submit it to LHDN.

For walk-in customers who only require a normal receipt, you can later issue a consolidated e-invoice summarising those transactions.

For your Shopee sales, you don’t need to do anything extra—Shopee continues to handle the e-invoicing and submission process for you.

To keep things organised, it’s a good idea to use different invoice reference numbers for online and offline sales. This makes it easier to track and report your transactions clearly and accurately.
